Sana has completed her Bachelors in Law and Arts from Symbiosis Law School, Pune and Masters in Law specializing in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex, United Kingdom. She has worked with a plethora of national and international human rights organizations including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) in India operation and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Whilst working with OHCHR, she had the opportunity of working directly with the Committee of Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, which is the UN Treaty Body responsible for monitoring the compliance of international treaty preventing discrimination against women.

While associated with UNHCR, Sana worked as an eligibility officer interviewing and adjudicating on asylum claims in order to confer refugee status.

Sana has also worked with various other NGOs, and international organizations such as Child Rights and You (CRY), Lawyers Collective, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, Lawyers Without Borders, The Manushya Foundation, etc. Through her association with these organizations, she has worked with marginalized groups such as child sexual abuse survivors, under trial detainees, migrant workers, indigenous people, domestic violence survivors, people fleeing from armed conflicts, etc. She has drafted various advocacy documents on providing legal aid for lawyers, how to interview victims of child trafficking and co-created various training modules on The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.

She is currently working as an Associate with POSHequili which is empanelled by Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. As part of POSHequili, she is assisting organizations on compliance with law against sexual harassment.
