I - LEGAL UPDATES

The Madhya Pradesh High Court ruled that subsequent marriage and childbirth do not affect the offence under the POCSO Act. It emphasized that consent from a minor is irrelevant in child sexual abuse cases and prioritized the protection of minors over personal circumstances.

The Bombay High Court upheld the conviction of an POCSO accussed while clarifying the evidentiary standards of POCSO are different than those needed to establish the act of cheating. While upholding the POCSO conviction, the Court emphasised that cheating requires independent and cogent proof.

II - Exploring Intersections

As the year ends, let’s reflect on allyship that builds inclusive workplaces. When a colleague shares they’re neurodivergent, listen without judgment, avoid assumptions, respect privacy, and educate yourself. Validate self-identification, ask about support needs, and honour their experiences. Inclusive allyship is ongoing—rooted in empathy, learning, and respect for every individual’s journey.

Many cultures celebrate the new year at different times with their own unique calendars. Answer: Dark showering is a TikTok trend where you take a warm shower in dim or no light, without mirrors or distractions. It is supposed to help your brain slow down before bed. Some say it reduces overwhelm and improves sleep. Science shows that dim light can boost melatonin production, and warm showers may help you fall asleep faster. While it’s not a proven cure for stress or anxiety, dark showering offers a calming ritual—a sensory pause—that many find grounding, especially when dealing with sensory overload or bedtime anxiety. Whether it works for you or not, the trend highlights a shared need for moments of calm in today’s busy world.
