I - LEGAL UPDATES

The Allahabad High Court granted bail to a rape accused, controversially stating the educated victim “invited trouble” by drinking and accompanying him. The court emphasized her responsibility, citing lack of definitive medical evidence. The ruling sparked outrage, with critics condemning it for victim-blaming and undermining the gravity of sexual assault.
The Chhattisgarh High Court ruled that forcing a woman to undergo a virginity test violates her right to dignity under Article 21. Dismissing a husband’s plea in a marital dispute, the Court held such tests are unconstitutional, unscientific, and invasive, reaffirming that no woman can be compelled to prove her chastity.
The Karnataka High Court questioned NLSIU’s failure to implement interim transgender reservation and fee waiver as directed by a single judge. While NLSIU claimed its executive council was considering the issue, the petitioner argued the delay violated Article 14. The court emphasized the need for concrete policies and continued the hearing.

II - Exploring Intersections

Emojis have evolved into a secret language among younger generations, often used to hide risky behaviors or illicit activity. Caregivers should understand this communication mode to protect children. Being an aware, curious, and trusted adult is key to ensuring kids’ safety in the digital world.

Transgender women are eligible to compete in women’s football in England under updated FA guidelines that support inclusion while ensuring fair play. They must meet testosterone limits, undergo medical reviews, and pass match observations assessing safety and fairness. Each case is reviewed individually, giving the FA final say. Currently, 20 trans women play amateur football, with none in the pro leagues. The policy balances inclusion with fair competition amid ongoing public debate and calls for reform.
