When life feels overwhelming, pausing to check in with your emotions can foster self-awareness and grounding. This simple act helps identify true needs, especially for neurodivergent individuals whose experiences are often misunderstood. Acknowledge your feelings—comfortable or not—and remember, it’s okay to seek support and choose emotional shifts when needed.
During Autism Acceptance Month, it’s important to understand traits like demand avoidance—often mistaken for defiance or laziness. It may stem from sensory overwhelm, executive dysfunction, disrupted routines, or internalized shame. Recognizing these hidden challenges helps create more empathetic, inclusive environments where autistic individuals feel safe to express needs and thrive.
This CPD article, written by Shambhavi Rai, Associate at Equilibrio Advisory, explores the evolution of workplace sexual harassment law in India. It unpacks the POSH Act’s expansive definition, emphasizes impact over intent, and highlights the importance of institutional accountability in creating safe, respectful, and inclusive work environments beyond legal compliance.

I - LEGAL UPDATES
The Supreme Court ruled that bodily injuries are not required to prove sexual assault. In a case involving charges of abduction and sexual assault, the Court emphasized that victims may react differently to trauma, and the absence of physical injuries or immediate distress does not invalidate sexual assault allegations.
The UK Supreme Court ruled that the term “woman” in the Equality Act 2010 refers exclusively to biological females, excluding trans women with Gender Recognition Certificates (GRCs). The Court clarified that while diversity is important, only biological women qualify for gender representation quotas under the 2018 Scottish Act, upholding legal definitions.
The Bombay HC directed the State Advisory Board on Disability to urgently address accessibility issues for differently-abled individuals, particularly at bus stops. While acknowledging the removal of bollards, the Court emphasized the need for broader infrastructure improvements, urging full implementation of national accessibility guidelines and providing a formal grievance redressal process.
II - Exploring Intersections
Autism Acceptance Month highlights the importance of not only accepting individuals on the autism spectrum but also creating inclusive spaces where they can thrive. Neuro-affirming workspaces that accommodate sensory sensitivities—like dim lights, yellow lighting, quiet zones, noise-canceling headphones, and sensory break rooms—foster both inclusion and mental well-being, supporting neurodivergent employees’ overall health and productivity.
