Curious Cat: How can parents and caregivers proactively foster daily braille engagement, and by what age should structured braille introduction begin?

Answer: It is recommended to begin introducing braille through playful, tactile activities like textured books, dot‑matching games, or braille LEGO bricks from ages 2–3 to build fingertip awareness and fine‑motor skills. Once your child is comfortable with touch, introduce uncontracted braille letters and simple words around preschool (age 3–5), then progress to shorter, contracted braille by age 5–6 for smoother reading. Make it fun, sing the alphabet as they trace, label everyday items, read braille books together with audio narration and celebrate small wins to boost motivation of the child.

Here’s all the tools you need to build safe and equitable workspaces!
