Mark your calendars! In this section, we highlight an upcoming event you won't want to miss.
In this monthy meeting we will aim to educate IC members on understanding gender and sexuality terms beyond heterosexual norms, exploring concepts of true love and consent, and examining how these can sometimes be misconstrued as harassment. Additionally, it addresses the unlearning of biases regarding the roles of Complainants and Respondents and highlights the unique life stressors faced by gender and sexual minorities in the workplace.
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM IST, join us for a live panel discussion hosted by Inclusion at Work. As we celebrate Pride Month, we’ll delve into the transformative power of the Queer Gaze, a perspective that challenges heterosexual norms and reimagines culture through a queer lens. Our panelists will explore its significance, how it shifts mainstream cultural narratives, its manifestation in the Indian context, and its application in fostering diverse and inclusive workplaces. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in conversations that matter and contribute to building inclusive spaces for all.

I - LEGAL UPDATES
The Gujarat High Court granted one week’s leave to a sexual harassment complainant, despite a concluded inquiry and punishment to the accused, recognizing the distress of working beside the perpetrator. The Court emphasized protecting her dignity and urged authorities to consider her transfer request sympathetically, citing the POSH Act’s intent.
The Allahabad High Court upheld the suspension of a Head of Department accused of sexual harassment, including body shaming, as a preventive measure. The Court emphasized that such actions build workplace confidence, condemn body shaming, and ensure fair inquiry. It directed the petitioner to appeal, with protections during suspension.
The Madras High Court upheld the right of same-sex couples to form a family, even without legal marriage. It condemned forced “rehabilitation” of LGBTQIA+ individuals, censured police inaction, and affirmed personal liberty. The court recognized “chosen family” and emphasized protecting sexual minorities’ rights, issuing protective directions for the couple.
II - Exploring Intersections
Pride Month is a time to reflect and re-evaluate our stance, systems, and practices, moving beyond token gestures to truly embrace queer-affirmative choices, especially in our workplaces. A queer-affirmative approach actively supports and uplifts queer and trans employees by acknowledging and responding to their unique challenges and lived experiences. Key steps include inclusive policies, support systems, structural changes, and fostering a cultural shift towards belonging. By adopting these practices, we create spaces where everyone can flourish authentically. Read more in the full article.

Did You Know? Dwarf chimpanzees, scientifically known as Pan paniscus, are our closest living relatives, sharing about 98.7% of human DNA. They are one of the only species where the entire population is considered homosexual. Uniquely, they use same-sex behavior as a social strategy to reduce tension, form alliances, and maintain peace. Both male and female bonobos regularly engage in same-sex behavior to reduce conflict, build trust, and strengthen social bonds. In their peaceful, matriarchal societies, sex replaces aggression, making intimacy a key tool for survival and cohesion.
