Aishwarya Krishnan Lata is an Advocate and Associate with the POSHequili vertical at Equilibrio Advisory LLP. She holds a B.L.S., LL.B. degree from Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Law and an LL.M. in Criminal Law and Criminal Administration from Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Law, Mumbai.

During her academic journey, Aishwarya pursued an Interdisciplinary Dissertation Project on Marital Rape in India and authored her LL.M. Dissertation titled “A Critical Analysis on the Implementation of Capital Punishment for Recidivists of Heinous Offences in India.” Her academic interests lie at the intersection of criminal justice, gender, punishment theory and institutional accountability.

Prior to joining Equilibrio Advisory LLP, Aishwarya worked in litigation, representing clients in criminal, family, appellate, civil, commercial, arbitration, consumer and regulatory matters before courts and tribunals across Maharashtra and Gujarat. Her experience includes legal research, courtroom advocacy, drafting, client advisory, contract review and dispute resolution.

Coming from a background in criminal law, Aishwarya views the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) framework as a unique intersection between criminal and civil law, where serious acts such as sexual harassment are addressed not only through redressal mechanisms but also through prevention, awareness and institutional accountability. For her, the principle underpinning POSH is that prevention and protection is better than cure.

She believes that POSH is not merely law on paper or law confined to the courtroom; it is law in action. In the corporate context, it represents an opportunity to translate legal principles into everyday workplace practices that foster dignity, respect and safety. She is passionate about helping organisations build workplaces that are not only legally compliant but also equitable, respectful and psychologically safe through practical and solution-oriented legal guidance.
