Curious Cat: What is Climate Anxiety?
Answer: As the climate change crisis worsens globally, there has been a rise in climate anxiety. Traits of climate anxiety could include deep and obsessive concern about climate change. This, in turn, can lead to insomnia, changes in weight and appetite, panic attacks, irritability, depressive episodes, among other things. To tackle climate anxiety we must first acknowledge that this is a systemic issue, and the concern is real. A person grappling with mild climate anxiety could benefit from getting involved in grassroots activism, and they can also be directed towards news outlets that highlight positive climate news, and innovations in sustainability and waste reduction. If the anxiety is severe, they can reach out to a mental health professional. If anyone you know is experiencing this, you can reach out to us at connect@equilibrioadvisory.org.
