Today, we honor the resilience of intersex individuals whose experiences are too often erased or misunderstood. Intersex people continue to face misinformation, invisibility, and non-consensual medical interventions. This day calls us to uplift intersex voices, challenge harmful myths, and create spaces rooted in dignity, respect, and true visibility.

I - LEGAL UPDATES

The Karnataka High Court permitted medical termination of pregnancy for a minor rape survivor and, noting systemic failures in child-protection responses, issued an interim, binding SOP. It mandates digital case-management, anonymity, coordinated rehabilitation, trauma-informed care, CWC-led monitoring, and long-term psychological support until the State finalises a comprehensive SOP.
The Supreme Court heard the bail plea of an Assam professor accused of anti-national posts and obscene online content targeting women and children. With prior FIRs, including under POCSO, the Court criticised his “perverted mind” and misuse of the internet, but directed the State to report on trial delays before deciding bail.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court suspended a schoolteacher’s sentence for sexual harassment, noting inconsistencies between the minor’s allegations and her behaviour the next day, lack of medical corroboration, and over a year of custody served. Finding arguable issues and delayed appeal hearing, the Court allowed suspension of sentence pending appeal.

II - Exploring Intersections

A nine-year-old’s tragic death in Jaipur highlights urgent gaps in school safety and grievance redressal. Ignored complaints of bullying can have devastating consequences. This Anti-Bullying Week, let’s treat this preventable tragedy as a call to action — to recognise warning signs, respond early, and prioritise every child’s safety and wellbeing in schools.
A 15-year-old student interned with Mental Health at Work, powered by Equilibrio Advisory, and did a survey among a small section of youth. The survey looked at various facets of stress and anxiety and how it shows up in today’s youth. To learn more, read the survey results here.

Did you know that victimology is the branch of criminology that studies victims, their characteristics, environments and interactions to understand why some people face higher risks of harm? It is based on four major theories: Victim Precipitation Theory (victim involvement, active or passive), Lifestyle Theory (risk-prone daily choices), Deviant Place Theory (exposure to high-crime locations) and Routine Activities Theory (motivated offender, suitable target, absent guardian). These theories help identify patterns and create prevention strategies. Some scholars criticize them for seeming to blame victims. Modern victimology rejects victim-blaming and uses these theories only to understand risk and strengthen protection.

Curious Cat: What is metathesiophobia and how to overcome it?

Answer: Metathesiophobia is the persistent fear of change, often leading to avoidance, anxiety, overthinking, and difficulty adjusting to new situations. To overcome it, start by recognising your fear pattern, breaking changes into small steps, and practising gradual exposure so transitions feel less overwhelming. Use grounding and mindfulness to manage physical anxiety, and challenge catastrophic thoughts through cognitive reframing. Build predictable routines and seek support from trusted people. If fear disrupts daily life, professional guidance can help — you can always reach out to us.
