I - LEGAL UPDATES
The Supreme Court held that a child’s disclosure of sexual abuse is sufficient to trigger the mandatory reporting obligation under Section 19 of the POCSO Act. Educational institutions cannot conduct internal inquiries or verify allegations before informing the authorities, as such delays may compromise evidence and undermine the statutory framework. The Court restored proceedings against the Headmistress while clarifying that liability for non-reporting arises only where an individual possesses direct knowledge of the alleged offence.
The Karnataka High Court ruled that the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 cannot be invoked to resolve ordinary private or civil disputes unrelated to disability rights. It held that the State Commissioner lacked jurisdiction over complaints concerning apartment management, CCTV installation, and maintenance disputes, as no disability-based discrimination or denial of statutory rights was established. The judgment reinforces that the RPwD Act applies only where there is a direct nexus between the impugned conduct and protected disability rights.

Research confirms that focusing on competence rather than appearance leads to more positive evaluations, whereas sexualized imagery distracts from athletic skill and triggers self-objectification within the players.

These recommendations, while not binding, serve as a vital standard for global sports media. Because many athletes currently struggle to focus on their performance while worrying about camera placement. Adopting these practices is essential to ensure that broadcasts honor the sport instead of sexualizing the athlete.

By repurposing icons like the Thai protesters using the cartoon hamster, Hamtaro, to mock government corruption or Hong Kong activists reclaiming the Pepe frog they transform raw anger into accessible, collective movements.

In India, the cockroach has recently emerged as a powerful visual of resistance; initially used as a derogatory slur against unemployed youth, the symbol was defiantly reclaimed to unite thousands calling for educational and social reform. These lighthearted or unlikely visuals act as a subversive bridge, turning public disdain into shared solidarity. While the aesthetic of these protests evolves rapidly, the underlying objective remains constant: to challenge entrenched power and advocate for a more equitable, inclusive future.
