Upcoming Events

Mark your calendars! In this section, we highlight an upcoming event you won't want to miss.

Understanding neurodiversity doesn’t just change how you see others. It changes how you see everything. This workshop is where that shift begins – through honest dialogue, real learning, and the awareness that inclusion is built on.
The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act, 2026 brings major changes to India’s transgender rights framework. By removing self-perceived gender identity and introducing a certification-based process, it marks a shift from the 2019 Act. These changes raise legal concerns and directly impact organisational documentation, inclusion policies, and compliance responsibilities.

Decoding Neurodivergence in the POSH Process – our monthly IC meeting goes deeper. Facilitated by Shambhavi Rai & Usri Basistha, this session explores autism, neurodiversity basics, POSH as a psychosocial stressor, and building IC practices rooted in clarity, safety, and genuine inclusion.
Earlier this week, we shared a scenario where a Complainant disclosed her POSH complaint to a colleague, breaching confidentiality. Here’s our analysis-how the Internal Committee (IC) may assess such situations under the POSH Act, 2013, and what it means for workplace dignity, boundaries, consent, and responsible conduct.

~ Spotlighting Landmark Judgments since passing of the Law!

I - LEGAL UPDATES

The Kerala High Court notified the 2026 Sexual Harassment Regulations, extending protection to lawyers, litigants, and visitors within court premises. The framework mandates a dedicated complaints mechanism and strengthens safeguards for time-bound redressal.

The Guwahati High Court held that uncertainty in determining the victim’s age, coupled with contradictory testimony, weakened the prosecution’s case. In the absence of clear proof of minority, the benefit of doubt was extended to the accused, resulting in acquittal.

II - Exploring Intersections

Last week’s LinkedIn Live, “Beyond Definitions: Understanding the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026),” spotlighted troubling changes in the new law. Professor Shivani Dutta highlighted its threats to fundamental rights, while Koyel Ghosh warned of criminalizing support for trans youth. Their insights stress the urgent need for inclusive, rights-affirming policies.

Here's your weekly food for thought through a Fun Fact or Quiz.

Did you know that this July, Oscar-nominated Canadian actor and producer Elliot Page will be involved in a groundbreaking production of Shakespeare’s “As You Like It”? This play will be performed entirely by a trans and non-binary cast, staged by Trans What You Will Theatre, a grassroots company dedicated to reimagining Shakespeare through a trans and queer lens. More than just a theatrical event, this production brings into sharp focus the gender complexity and fluidity that has always been inherent in Shakespeare’s work.

The story of “As You Like It” itself, following Rosalind’s disguise as Ganymede and the resulting confusion, flirtation, and blurred lines around identity and desire, becomes a powerful narrative in this context. At a time when trans people are facing global debate, targeting, and erasure, this all-trans cast offers a joyous reclamation of queerness. The play will be live-streamed globally. The proceeds from the company’s last production were donated to the trans charity, Not a Phase, highlighting their commitment to supporting the trans community.

Curious Cat:
What is Stiff Person Syndrome, and what does support look like?

Answer:
Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) is a rare neurological condition characterized by muscle rigidity and painful spasms. These spasms can be triggered by various stimuli, including stress, movement, sound, or touch. Over time, SPS can significantly impair a person’s ability to perform everyday actions like walking, standing, balancing, or controlling specific body parts. In some cases, it can also affect the muscles involved in speech, making communication difficult.

Individuals with SPS often experience sudden muscle locking, intense pain, limited mobility, and a sense of unpredictability in their own bodies. Currently, there is no cure for SPS. Treatment primarily focuses on managing symptoms and enhancing the quality of life through a combination of medication, physical therapy, and long-term rehabilitation.
