~ Spotlighting Landmark Judgments since passing of the Law!

I - LEGAL UPDATES

The Gujarat High Court held that challenges to recommendations of an Internal Complaints Committee under the POSH Act should ordinarily be pursued through the statutory appellate remedy under Section 18 of the Act before invoking writ jurisdiction. Reiterating the limited scope of judicial review over ICC proceedings, the Court declined to interfere in the absence of procedural illegality, perversity, mala fides or violation of natural justice.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Karnataka Government constituted an all-women team of Law Officers to represent the State before the all-women Benches of the Dharwad Bench of the Karnataka High Court. The initiative complements the Court’s historic all-women judicial sitting and reinforces institutional efforts to promote gender representation and leadership within the legal profession.

II - Exploring Intersections

A Supreme Court judgment has made student mental health an institutional responsibility not just a moral one. Explore what the guidelines mean for schools, colleges, and educational institutions, and how a strong mental health policy can help create safer, more supportive learning environments.

Here's your weekly food for thought through a Fun Fact or Quiz.

Did you know that the recent acquittal of former WFI (Wrestling Federation of India) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has reignited critical conversations regarding accountability for gender-based harassment? Despite serious allegations of sexual misconduct from prominent athletes spanning several years, the legal outcome underscores the systemic challenges women continue to face when seeking justice against powerful figures in India. The public displays of support following the verdict highlight how deeply entrenched obstacles to accountability remain, often leaving survivors feeling marginalized.

While legal results can be disheartening, they do not diminish the bravery of those who spoke out or the necessity of the movement they started. For us, this serves as a somber reminder that we must remain steadfast in spotlighting workplace violence.

Curious Cat:
Why is it time we break the silence surrounding female alopecia?

Answer:
Often misidentified as a condition exclusive to men, female alopecia is a medical reality involving significant, sometimes rapid, hair loss. For many women, this experience is shrouded in stigma, largely driven by rigid societal beauty standards that equate femininity with luscious locks of hair. This makes the condition feel like a deeply guarded taboo rather than a common health concern.

The film Gone Kesh captures this internal and external struggle through the story of Enakshi, an aspiring dancer whose life is reshaped by hair loss. Her journey highlights how alopecia impacts self-image and mental well-being, ultimately championing resilience over shame.

Normalizing conversations about female alopecia is essential to dismantle these harmful beauty norms. By moving past the “one-size-fits-all” definition of beauty, we create space for acceptance, ensuring that women feel empowered to pursue their dreams without the burden of invisibility or judgment.
Here’s all the tools you need to build safe and equitable workspaces! Drop us a Hey, to get started!
