Explore ways to build your knowledge and capacity with our team of in-house experts!

We’ve all heard questions that shift blame from the perpetrator to the survivor. Women should not have to restrict their freedom, choices or lives to feel safe. Safety is a right, not a privilege. Through #FeministFridays, we’ll unpack gender-based violence, victim blaming and systemic inequities—and work towards safer, just, inclusive spaces.

What makes it hardest to speak up about depression at work?

We asked. You answered. And every reason felt heavy.

Depression doesn’t always look like falling apart. Sometimes, it looks like showing up, delivering, and quietly struggling.

Workplace support shouldn’t ask people to be braver. It should make speaking up feel safe enough.

What supportive practices are you bringing into your workplace?

Today, on World Cerebral Palsy Day, we honour the 50 million people worldwide living with Cerebral Palsy.

This year’s theme, “Stories That Drive Science,” reminds us that progress must be shaped by lived experiences. True inclusion means listening, challenging assumptions, and building accessible systems that respect autonomy and reflect diverse realities.

I - LEGAL UPDATES

The Supreme Court, in proceedings concerning insurance access for persons with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities, directed IRDAI to furnish data on life-insurance policies issued by public and private insurers to such persons. The Court also sought responses from relevant Union Ministries and the National Trust. The matter was adjourned to 19 November 2026. The order marks a data-driven step towards examining insurance accessibility for persons with disabilities.
The Supreme Court cancelled the bail granted to four accused persons alleged to have assaulted and intimidated doctors at a municipal hospital. The Court held that criminal antecedents, potential witness intimidation, the accused’s influence, and the wider impact on medical professionals were material considerations in bail decisions. Emphasising that grievances must be pursued through lawful mechanisms, the Court also directed witness protection and expeditious trial, underscoring the importance of ensuring healthcare workers can perform their duties without fear.

II - Exploring Intersections

Some lessons are absorbed, not taught through the expectations, roles, behaviours and beliefs we encounter while growing up.

How deeply do these early lessons stay with us? How do they shape how we see ourselves and navigate adulthood?

Here's your weekly food for thought through a Fun Fact or Quiz.

Did you know that the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has ruled that schools cannot harass, punish, or discriminate against boys and transgender students based on their hair length? This directive explicitly prohibits schools from removing students from class or subjecting them to mental harassment for their personal expression. By challenging these arbitrary standards, the Commission recognizes that rigid grooming codes often serve as tools for policing gender expression rather than fostering educational growth.

This ruling helps stop schools from forcing children into narrow, outdated gender roles. Every student deserves the freedom to express who they are without being punished or excluded by their teachers. True inclusion means creating spaces where every child feels safe and respected. When we move past these strict rules, we protect a child’s dignity and ensure their school experience is based on acceptance rather than control.

Curious Cat:
What is digital anhedonia and how does it impact our lives?

Answer:
Emerging research suggests that chronic digital consumption may lead to “digital anhedonia,” a state where excessive screen use dulls our capacity to feel pleasure from real world activities. By constantly stimulating our brains with high intensity digital rewards, we may inadvertently make slower, meaningful hobbies or face to face family interactions feel unfulfilling by comparison. This cycle often erodes our patience for offline engagement, leaving us feeling emotionally flat despite being hyper connected.

Reclaiming our joy requires intentional digital boundaries and a conscious return to analog experiences that allow our dopamine systems to reset. Prioritizing human connection and screen free hobbies is not just a lifestyle choice; it is an essential step toward restoring our psychological well being and protecting our ability to find genuine happiness in daily life.
